The Braehead Clan…

breaks out kilt-themed hockey uniforms.

From The Hockey News:

Four of the EIHL’s clubs reside within Scotland, and one of those clubs, the Braehead Clan, pulled out special jerseys to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, a day of food, music and dance, this past weekend.

As part of their celebration of the national holiday, Braehead hit the ice in amazing custom jerseys that were built to make each skater appear to be wearing a kilt. Complete with awesome purple plaid pants, socks and a sash across the jersey, they’re an absolutely incredible special event jersey. Take a look:

Maybin returns to Tigers

Welcome back Cameron.

Minoring In Baseball

23165167916_0238810b6a_zJust when I start complaining that the Tigers keep trading away some of my favorite prospects and Whitecaps alumni, they do something like this. And totally redeem themselves! Friday night Detroit acquired Cameron Maybin from the Atlanta Braves for relief pitcher Ion Krol and Gabe Speier. With the loss of Rajai Davis to free agency, Maybin fills that gap nicely as he can play for center and left field.  He had the best season of his Major League career in 2015, batting .267, with 10 home runs, 59 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases. Maybin was originally dealt to the Florida/Miami Marlins in the deal that brought Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers in 2007, so there’s no way I can complain about how that deal turned out! Speier did pitch in 33 games for West Michigan this season, however, posting a 2.86 ERA while earning four wins, to two losses.  We…

Adam Proteau’s War On Women…

continues.  I’m beginning to have second thoughts about subscribing, and buying gift subscriptions, to the Hockey News, because of Hockey News writer’s Adam Proteau’s seemingly pathological war on women and culture.

In his latest article, Hey NHL – let’s treat women as equals and ice the ice girls, Proteau attacks the NHL, again, for their Ice Girls. ( I thought I admonished him sufficiently here,

Friends, readers, sentient beings, is there anything to complain about in regard to this masterpiece?

I’m not trying to be funny either.  There is nothing wrong with beautiful women and there is nothing wrong with fans appreciating beautiful women. It is the same appreciation a person can have for an artistic masterpiece.

Mr. Proteau’s clinical hatred of beautiful women tells us more about himself then it does about the NHL or the fans that enjoy the Ice Girls. In fact, the Red Wings need to replace their current Ice Crew with Ice Girls, it is embarrassing watching them skate around 20 times a game.

There was a commenter to Mr. Proteau’s wasteland of meaningless noise that I believe summed it up best:

From Jack:

This is a stupid article written by a stupid person. I wish the Red Wings would get some Hot Ice Girls instead of the queers they have “sweeping” the ice.

There is no end to depths of hell the PC crowd want to devolve western humanity into. GOD forbid men appreciate beautiful women. How lewd.

Well said Jack.

Eric Hosmer’s…

(I know I’m late with this post but the last month has been a whirlwind for me.  I finally have a chance to catch my breath and collect my thoughts.)

tying run in game five of the World Series is one of the best plays I’ve ever seen in my 35+ years of watching baseball.  I would have thought it was a good idea even if he was thrown out.

Congrats to the Royals!

FYI: I don’t see a date for Tigers’s pitchers and catchers to report.  However, Cardinals’s pitchers and catchers report on February 17th, 2016. Using that date as an estimate, we have 87 days until Spring Training 2016.

Alex Gordon | Conniption Shot

10/27/2015- Conniption Shots don’t come much bigger than this one.  Alex Gordon tied Game 1 of the 2015 World Series, in the bottom of the ninth, by hitting a Jeurys Familia pitch into an absolute CONNIPTION.

I’m quite certain Eric Hosmer, whose error in the eighth gave the Mets the lead, was happier than Gordon and I don’t blame him.  The media was trying to hang the “Bill Buckner” monicker on him before the game was over.

For Tigers fans, remember when we used to see Jose Miguel Cabrera hit balls into a Conniption like Gordon did? And in key situations. I hope those days aren’t over.
