Congrats Jerome!

Jerome Iginla, my favorite non-Red Wing, scored his 600th NHL goal last night.

Although Iginla’s 600th goal came as a member of the Colorado Avalanche, he will be forever known as the captain of the Calgary Flames.

Former Flames’ GM, Craig Button, had this to say about Iginla:

“He doesn’t carry himself with any attitude or arrogance. He’s confident in his abilities. He’s self-assured. He’s genuine. He’s a better person than he is a player, and we all know what kind of player he is.”

That’s saying something when you consider Iginla is only the 19th player in NHL history to score 600 goals.

Perhaps good guys win one in a while.

Good on you Jerome, Congratulations.

Strange Play from 2016 World Junior Hockey Tournament

From The Hockey News:

The World Junior Championship produces a number of highlight-reel plays every tournament because of the best-on-best nature of the games, but Belarusian goaltender Ivan Kulbakov may have made the most notable play of the 2016 competition thanks to a bizarre decision Sunday.

Belarus was trailing Slovakia 3-2 late in Sunday’s game when Kulbakov was taken out of the net for an extra attacker. With 25 seconds remaining, however, Slovakia had managed to break out of their zone and head towards the empty Belarus net. It was then Kulbakov made the incredibly confusing decision to hop back onto the ice — creating a too many men penalty against Belarus — to charge at Slovakia’s Juraj Siska in an attempt to break up the empty net attempt.

Instead, Kulbakov fell awkwardly and appeared to injure his right leg while Siska skated around the downed netminder before putting the puck in the net:

The Braehead Clan…

breaks out kilt-themed hockey uniforms.

From The Hockey News:

Four of the EIHL’s clubs reside within Scotland, and one of those clubs, the Braehead Clan, pulled out special jerseys to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, a day of food, music and dance, this past weekend.

As part of their celebration of the national holiday, Braehead hit the ice in amazing custom jerseys that were built to make each skater appear to be wearing a kilt. Complete with awesome purple plaid pants, socks and a sash across the jersey, they’re an absolutely incredible special event jersey. Take a look:
