On August 8th, 2009, a 19 year old Frederick Alfred Porcello was sticking up for his teammates. He drilled Boston’s Kevin Youkilis in the ribs. When Youk charged the mound, the young Porcello promptly threw Youkilis to the ground with a nice judo hip throw. If it wasn’t for outside intereference, young Ricky was in a perfect position to pound Youk into a conniption.

Keep this in mind because Mike Crapoli is on the Tigers hit list. His karate kick on Tigers’ shortstop, Jose Iglesias, was unacceptable and Crapoli must be held to account.

I would expect Ricky to drill him, if Max doesn’t beat him to it on Tuesday. We can remember back to earlier this year when Ricky drilled Zobrist in Tampa, the day after Fernando came up and in on Miggy. What was most noticeable about this act was the pat on the back Miggy gave to Ricky right afterward.
Looking back on that fight with Youkalis, it reminded me of the pounding Nolan Ryan put on Robin Ventura. Too bad Ricky got interfered with, otherwise he would have had his way with Youk.
Sark, and Ricky was only 19 at the time! I’ve always liked Ricky.
Napoli suspiciously not in the lineup tonight….
