Tigers 10 Orioles 4

It was nice to see the Tigers offense explode for 10 runs.  I just hope this isn’t the continuation of a familiar pattern, 10 runs one game, then nothing for the next few.

The Good:

  • The Tigers moved to 3-0.
  • The Mighty Miggy went 4-5 including his 2,000th hit, a two run bomb in the 8th.
  • Drew Smyly came in to relieve Anibal Sanichez after the rain delay.  He pitched 3 innings, struck out 3, walked 1 and didn’t allow a run.
  • Nice defensive play by Andrew Romine in the 6th.

The Bad:

  • Joba Chamberlain.  WTF?

The Ugly:

  • The weather was horrible.  I hate cold, rainy, days.
  • Romine got charged with an error in the 5th.  From all the angels I saw, it looked like he recorded the out at second and dropped the ball on the transfer.  What made this ugly is that the umpires reviewed the play and upheld the call on the field.  My only response is WTF?

  1. I agree with your assessment of Joba. I give it about a month before he’s gone and the kid from the minors comes up and makes us all forget about Rondon. We’re due to hit on a prospect for once and the kid apparently has the makeup of a solid back-end reliever. Cory Knebel is his name I believe. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I was unaware of Miggy’s 2000th hit until today. It made me think he will reach 3000 in about 5 years assuming he continues on his current pace. And then as he gets into his upper 30’s I wonder if the thought of 4000 hits will be motivation for him??

I really like how AJ is hitting so far. Hope he can keep up this pace.

Tigers are getting solid starting pitching, as usual. The future #2 RP goes tomorrow.

    • Sark, I’m just hoping the Tigers can score some runs tomorrow for Ricky. I hope the Tigers can avoid the feast or famine offense they’ve had for most of the last two seasons.
