Nationals 3 Tigers 2

Zimmerman was good but Max was on fire.  That being said, despite striking out 20 times the Tigers still had chances but couldn’t get the key hit.

Now, can someone explain why Brad Ausmus didn’t have Nick “The Quick” in the lineup?  I understand there is no designated hitter but how do you sit Casteallanos in the middle of this run he’s on.  This might be crazy but Miggy should have been the odd man out today.

How do you sit Nick “The Quick” ?

Orioles 12 Tigers 3

All of the Tigers flaws were on display but it all started with Scherzer. He wasn’t nearly good enough. Although his final line was worse than he pitched he wasn’t good enough.

I could excuse his first inning but giving back the lead right after the offense tied the game was offensive.

I’m not even that mad about the 8thinning implosion. Anybody that was shocked by the defense and bullpen hasn’t been watching all season.

What really sent my blood pressure through the ceiling was the final out of the game. I was under no delusion, the Tigers weren’t coming back, but what they could have done was irritate the Orioles by scoring a few runs and stretching their bullpen.

With two outs, Tigers loaded the bases. Kinsler the struck out but the ball got away from the catcher. Everybody ran except Kinsler. He could have easily made it to first. A run would have scored and the inning would have been kept alive for Hunter. But Kinsler refused to run. Who in the sam hell does he think he is? A few runs wouldn’t have meant much today but it may have created a better atmosphere for tomorrow.

Kinsler’s antics are the biggest reason the Tigers will be golfing next week. Only a few of them seem to give a shit. Like Fielder last year, I hope Kinsler isn’t in a Tigers uniform next year.

I HATE THEM!

Tigers 4 Twins 2

I’m pretty sure I’ve never said this before, the Tigers bullpen was smokin balls. It worked out just the way it was scripted. Soria, Chamberlain and Nathan pitched the final 9 outs and got them in order.

Max was pretty good. He had an elevated pitch count but last six complete and got his 18th win.

I was listening to the White Sox broadcast on the way home from the game. For what it’s worth, they think the Tigers will re-sign Victor but Max is leaving. I think most Tigers fans expect Max to leave. I’m not sure about Vmart. I’m usually not in favor of singing older players but this could be an exception.

The Royals won’t go away. They beat the White Sox 6-3.

Tigers 3 Royals 2

The Tiger survived terrible fielding by Ian Kinsler and Eugenio Suarez, and terrible relief from Joba and the turd, and squeezed out a narrow victory in KC.

The win increased the Tigers lead to 2.5 games in the AL Central.

A few things to note:

  1. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a starting pitcher, who wasn’t injured, ask to come out of a game. Is Scherzer just playing for his contract as it has been suggested on this site? It appears so,. For as horrible as JV has been I have never seen him ask to come out of a game. In fact, JV reminds me of Jack Morris, who had a conniption anytime he was removed.
  2. I’m starting to like Tyler Collins.
  3. I’m beginning to question the value of replay. Baseball headquarters said that the play where Perez didn’t tag up was not reviewable. Really? Why?
  4. Romine has to be the regular shortstop. Neither he nor Suarez is much of a hitter, but Suarez looks like an asshat in the field.

Joba and Nathan were not good. That’s why the Tigers need the starters to go as deep into games as humanly possible. Any started that would willingly give way to this bullpen deserves his fate.

How long is this team going to sick with Nathan? Does he have cost the Tigers a Pennant or World Series for BA and DD to admit they made a mistake?

WTF?

Twins 8 Tigers 4

Is this team better since the David Price trade?

Every Other Start Price was horrible today.

In crunch time the starters have decided to pack it in. The strength of this team has become another weakness. The best Tigers starters down the stretch have been Freeway Ricky and Kyle Lobstein. JV, Scherzer, and Price, have been bad.

I can’t complain at all about the offense, except for Kinsler, they have been mashing the ball but what was Hunter doing in the seventh? The Tigers got away with bad base running on the home stand but it shot them in the foot today.

As much as it hurts me to say, this team doesn’t deserve to make the playoffs.

Tiger Fall, 6-2 ,Split Four Game Series

Normally, a split of a four game series, on the road, is acceptable, but not this time.

Yesterday, the Tigers split a double-header in an unconventional fashion. The 2013 CY Young winner got beaten into a conniption in game one but a rookie stepped up, and was lights out in game two.

Hats off to Kyle Ryan.

Today, Freeway Ricky got dealt a bad hand. He took the loss and gave up six runs in six and two thirds. However, only three runs were earned. The defense let him down making four errors. He wasn’t lights out, he allowed 11 hits, but he deserved a better fate.

I guess the Tigers will have to regroup in Cleveland. At worst, by the end of the day, they will be only one game out if the Royals win.

Tigers 13 Twins 4

As bad as things started out, the last two games took the a little sting out of the first two drubbings.

The offense rescued JV yesterday and Max today.

I have to tip my hat to the offense, they showed up in every game this series. They scored a total of 31 runs in four games, almost seven per. Unfortunately, the pitching staff gave up 43.

One thing this series showed is how fragile this team is. The only real strength the Tigers have is starting pitching. The offense is inconsistent, the defense is slightly better than embarrassing and the bullpen is an abomination. But the starting rotation is not deep, as we’ve seen. Basically, they don’t have a chance if any one if the starting five goes down. The Tigers have nobody that can make a spot start and give them a chance, as this series proved.

I’m not putting this team in the playoffs, although I did send in my money, but winning is a lot better than the crap we’ve seen over the last six weeks.

One more thing, up yours Nathan you shit bird, you sucked again yesterday you turd.

Tigers 5 Pirates 2

The offense hit well, the pitchers pitched well, and the Tigers won their second in a row.

Well, not all of the pitchers pitched well, Phil Coke was horrible, but Joba came in to clean up the mess and save the game.

Max was absolutely smokin’ balls. Fourteen Ks in eight innings. It looks like his plan for a bigger payday might be working out. I’ll bet he ends up with the Yankees next season.

J.D. Martinez was 2-3 with a bomb and two RBIs and Nick Castellanos was 2-4 with two RBIs.

Interestingly, after Coke gave up two runs in ninth and created a save situation, Ausmus called Joba’s number not Nathan’s. I was wondering what the crowd reaction was going to be if that shit dog came into the game. I was hoping he’d get booed out the stadium no matter what he did.

Also, Joba tipped his hat to the crowd after the game. I wonder if that was his version of a Bronx cheer, taking another shot at the crowd?

I really want Nathan gone. I know he apologized but I don’t care. He has shown Tigers fans, on several occasions, his true colors. (Remember when he blamed his blown save on Castellanos?)

A very wise person once told me, “when a person tells you who they are – believe them.”

Up yours Nathan you shit bird.

Blue Jays 6 Tigers 5

Another series loss.

Don’t let the five runs fool you. Three of the five runs were unearned and they didn’t score after the fourth inning. That’s 14 innings without scoring a run. The Tigers get credit for taking advantage of mistakes but they eventually returned the favor in spades.

Besides Joba Chamberlain, who is turning out to be the guy the Yankees let go, the bullpen was good today. Even Phil Coke pitched adequately, he was hurt by bone head fielding plays from Kinsler and Castellanos.

There is no other way to say this, the Tigers are horrible. Their lead over the Royals is down to 1/2 a game and they are headed for a catastrophic implosion. The offense is almost as bad as the bullpen. The fielding is borderline terrible and the manager sits their like an idiot and does nothing to shake things up.

On another note, did anybody see the Joe Nathan interview after the game yesterday? When is he going to take responsibility for pitching like shit? He’s blown six saves and has a 5.23 ERA. If I’m not mistaken, both his ERA and blown saves are the worst in MLB.

Also, Max Scherzer was covering BA’s ass. You could tell he was lying when he said he had nothing left.
